Once a pioneer, always a pioneer.
Since 1935,WALA Heilmittel GmbH has been developing preparations from nature. At the beginning of its history, it was an avant-gardist and pioneer in a society that had little awareness of natural preparations. The quick technical solution seemed to have replaced thinking in contexts.
But not everywhere. Anthroposophical physicians in particular were enthusiastic about Rudolf Hauschka's method of producing natural medicines without preservative alcohol. The demand for his preparations encouraged Hauschka to found WALA in Ludwigsburg in 1935 and soon to open branches in Vienna and London. After a ban by the National Socialists and imprisonment of Dr. Hauschka and his later wife Dr. med. Margarethe Stavenhagen, WALA established itself in Bad Boll/Eckwälden from 1950 onwards, after several moves. It is still at home there today.
Cosmetics as a caring complement.
Rudolf Hauschka had long been thinking about his own cosmetics line to complement the range of medicines - an extension, as it were, of the preparations for keeping the skin healthy. But it was not until he met Elisabeth Sigmund, a Viennese woman who ordered preparations from WALA for her own cosmetic products that his ideas began to take shape. The cosmetologist, who was living in Stockholm at the time, traveled to Eckwälden and worked out formulations for a facial care product together with the pharmaceutical experts. Together they found solutions for cream bases that were stable without synthetic chemical emulsifiers, and created fragrance blends with natural essential oils.
in 1967, the first products hit the market. in 1971, Elisabeth Sigmund trained the first Dr. Hauschka Natural Esthetician.
"Of course, we felt like rebels when we developed these unconventional cosmetics."

Dr. Hauschka Skin Care still feels connected to the pioneering spirit of the founding phase: In 1999, the company introduces a complete make-up series - with natural ingredients and a formulation that not only decorates but also cares. in 2009, the cosmetics are expanded to include medical care products - Dr.Hauschka Med.
Today, WALA has two mainstays: WALA Medicines and Dr. Hauschka Skin Care.
