EUROPEAN MAKE-UP AWARD at BEAUTY DÜSSELDORF 2023

The international make-up championships at BEAUTY DÜSSELDORF, which took place from March 31 to April 2, 2023, were an enormous success. Here, the focus was on the art of make-up with all its facets.

The Meeting Point event stage in Hall 10 was well attended. Visitors marveled at both seasoned experts and young industry newcomers eager to prove themselves in competition. The EUROPEAN MAKE-UP AWARD Expert is aimed at nationally and internationally established make-up professionals with many years of professional experience, while aspiring young talents in the cosmetics industry come together at the EUROPEAN MAKE-UP AWARD New Talent.

A total of twelve make-up newcomers from four countries took part in the New Talent Award on the theme of "Halo Color Pop". First place went to Isabell Niederländer from Frankfurt am Main (Germany). Elena Allritz from Magdeburg (Germany) followed in second place, and third place went to Juliana Bowe from Berlin (Germany).

Winner Isabell Niederländer was pleased: "I love colorful makeup and therefore the work task suited me very well. Of course, it's overwhelming that it was enough for first place." The 27-year-old studied social work, but changed her focus and completed her training as a make-up artist and hairstylist in September 2020. "My big wish is to work full-time as a make-up artist in the future and hopefully this success will give me tailwind," beamed the winner. Isabell Niederländer is currently freelancing in Frankfurt and the wider area. She would like to use the BEAUTY trade fair to find out about new products and innovations in the industry. By winning first place in the talent competition, the Frankfurt native has secured a wildcard for the EUROPEAN MAKE-UP AWARD Expert at BEAUTY DÜSSELDORF 2024, in addition to the 1,000 euros in prize money.

Twelve make-up professionals from four nations showed their skills to the spectators at the Expert Award on the theme of "80's SUMMER GLAM". Oksana Onischuk from Düsseldorf (Germany) was crowned the winner. As in the previous year, Seda Yüksel from Mannheim (Germany) took second place, while Nataliia Stroitielieva from Düsseldorf came third.

The winner Oksana Onischuk beamed: "I am overwhelmed. I just didn't expect to make the first place. But of course, I wanted to win!" The 33-year-old has lived in Düsseldorf with her husband for almost two years and loves living here. She has been working independently as a makeup artist for three and a half years and was previously employed by a major makeup brand. Onischuk has been working on her own makeup brand for makeup artists for two years and wants to open her own makeup school. She therefore plans to invest the prize money of 2,000 euros directly in her business.

The EUROPEAN MAKE-UP AWARD Expert called for professionals who are over 18 years old, have completed training as a make-up artist and have at least two years of professional experience (also on a freelance basis). "80's SUMMER GLAM" was the motto for 2023 and the most amazing and glamorous make-up looks of the 80's served as inspiration. Full lips, bright eyes with a perfect eyeliner and a beautiful healthy complexion - this competition was to create a look that every lady wants for the perfect appearance.
