The cosmetics fair BEAUTY INTERNATIONAL DÜSSELDORF really does not need any "cosmetic improvements”: exhibitors and the 50,000 trade visitors from 27 countries (including Botswana, Pakistan and Thailand) were extremely satisfied with how the event went on the first weekend of March. "We promised our customers more comfort, more space and more atmosphere and we kept this promise,” said Project Leader Helmut Winkler. Visitors and exhibitors were offered very high quality and professionalism, he said. "Our new concept with its stricter controls on visitor registration proved successful,” he stressed.
Spacious wellness oases, sophisticated design and high-quality stands was the picture painted in halls 9 to 13. Visitors were able to gather information on all the latest trends and innovations from the cosmetic, manicure, pedicure and wellness sectors at the world's largest fair for cosmetics service providers.
The "colour trends” at BEAUTY INTERNATIONAL 2005 DÜSSELDORF were "Non Colour”, "Naked” and "Nude”, i.e. a transparent and perfectly balanced complexion. The colours move within a spectrum of muted grey, brown and beige tones. These are complemented with so-called "60s lips” in pale, sometimes translucent, transparent pink tones.
In addition to the key wellness theme, the topic of "anti-aging” was a key thread running throughout the fair. "This topic is becoming increasingly important, especially for cosmeticians,” stressed the specialist leading the workshops, Prof. Michael Schmidt.
Other favourite focal points beyond the workshops were the show studios as well as the ASIA Centre where visitors could gather information on Far Eastern beauty/wellness treatments. "Visitors are very enthusiastic about this segment,” confirmed Angelika Baur-Schermbach from the German Wellness Association, Deutsches Wellness Verband. Visitors, she said, were able to gather useful tips here and were given excellent advice and assistance.
Noticeable this year was the high quality of visitors across all segments. "Customers approach us in a very targeted manner with specific ideas,” said Gerd Eckstein, Managing Director of the firm of the same name. Trade visitors, he said, were very serious and interested professionals. This impression was also echoed by Gerd Franz, Managing Director of Jean d'Arcel: "We are very satisfied with our customer contacts.”
Sabine Tschiersch from BABOR also expressed her satisfaction with both the quality of visitors and the look of the fair. "BEAUTY INTERNATIONAL offers the perfect platform for services in the cosmetic sector,” she said.
Nothing but positive reports also came from the nail design sector. "We feel the new concept and presentation style are very successful,” said Ileana Schnell from American Nails. The layout, the atmosphere and the spaciousness of the halls were found to be very appealing, she said. "As exhibitors this is just what we've always wanted.”
In the pedicure segment exhibitors were also very impressed. "The quality of visitors here is very high,” said Rudolf Großholdermann from Gharieni. All trade visitors were professionals, he said, and dialogue had been very promising.
With its exhibitor range and specialist supporting programme at the manicure, pedicure and wellness focal points Treffpunkt Fuss, Wellness and Nail as well as its new look BEAUTY INTERNATIONAL has confirmed its strong position as a leading fair in the sector. "This event has shown Düsseldorf to be the perfect lifestyle location and we as the trade fair organisation play a not insignificant role in this,” said trade fair Managing Director Wilhelm Niedergöker.
The lifestyle theme was also particularly apparent in the German and International Make-Up Contests and in the International Nail and first Nail Art Contest. Overall, 25 make-up artists from 15 countries, including the USA, Russia, Norway, Finland, Poland, Turkey and Switzerland, put their skills to the test masterfully beautifying the models' faces with make-up following the themes "Clean Chic” and "The Mods”. 28 nail artists from 18 nations (such as Vietnam, the USA, Norway, Latvia and Kazakhstan) came to Düsseldorf to create the perfect nails and prove their skills to the jury.
One other prize was also presented at the fair: 83 year old Managing Director of the firm KRYOLAN, Arnold Langer from Berlin, was awarded the "Beauty Award: A Life of Beauty”. Since 2001 this prize has been awarded to personalities who devote their life's work to cosmetics and who are considered impulse generators in the sector. Langer donated the Euro 2,500 prize money to the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation at Berlin's Charité Hospital.
The next BEAUTY INTERNATIONAL Düsseldorf will be held in March 2006.
